How to write a great video prompt

The style does the heavy creative lifting — your prompt just needs to point it in the right direction. A few simple habits go a long way.

How the generator works
  • Name the subject, the setting, and the motion — “a fox running through a misty forest at dawn” beats “a fox”.
  • Describe the camera move you want: “slow push-in”, “aerial shot”, “orbit around the subject”.
  • Let a style carry the mood instead of spelling out lighting and texture by hand.
  • Attach a reference photo to keep a specific subject, face, or product consistent.
  • Keep one clear action per clip — a single striking moment reads better than a busy scene.
  • Regenerate a couple of times; small wording changes produce very different motion.
FAQ

Video idea questions

What makes a good AI video prompt?
Name the subject, the setting, and the motion — for example, “a fox running through a misty forest at dawn, slow push-in”. One clear action per clip reads best. Then let a style handle the lighting and texture so you don't have to describe them by hand.
Do I have to write a prompt at all?
No. A style is pre-selected when you open Videx, so you can generate from a style alone. A prompt just gives you more control over the subject and motion.
Can I reuse a prompt from a video I already made?
Yes. In the History tab, the Regenerate action reloads a past task's prompt and reference images into the Generate tab, so you can tweak and run it again.
How do I get a different result from the same idea?
Change the style, adjust a few words, or regenerate — small changes and fresh runs produce very different motion, so it's worth trying an idea a couple of ways.
